Charles C. Hilty, Sr., 89, of Clarksburg, PA passed away on Sunday, April 26, 2009 at the Indiana Regional Medical Center, Indiana, PA.The son of Charles P. and Jean E. (Graham) Hilty, he was born October 7, 1919 in Nowrytown, Pa.Mr. Hilty lived most of his life in the Clarksburg area and was a member of the Aultman Baptist Church.He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army, Company I, 84th Division, 335th Infantry.Prior to his retirement in 1984, he worked at IUP. Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Esther Mae (Murphy) Hilty to whom he married September 21, 1953; a son, Charles C. Hilty, Jr. of Clarksburg; a grandson, Erik M. Hilty; a great grandchild, Carter R. Hilty; a sister, Mary Johnson of Saltsburg and numerous nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; a twin brother, Clifford Hilty and a sister, Dorothy Stephens.The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Tuesday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. Private funeral services will be held at the funeral home with Rev. Charles Harvey officiating.Interment will be in Ebenezer Cemetery, Lewisville, PA.Military services will be accorded by the Blairsville VFW Post #5821 and the American Legion #0407
