Paul Allen Richards, 79, of Derry, PA passed away on Monday, April 13, 2009 at the Loyalhanna Care Center, Derry Twp., PA.The son of Thomas F. and Harriett (Burd) Richards, he was born June 28, 1929 in Kingston, PA (Derry Twp.)Mr. Richards was a member of the Bethany United Methodist Church, Latrobe, and was a charter member of the Kingston Vets.He graduated from Derry Twp. High School in 1948 and was a Korean War veteran, having served in the US Army.Prior to his retirement in 1992, he worked at Derry Westinghouse for 18 years.Surviving are his wife, H. Jane (Howard) Richards whom he married on September 7, 1956; a son, Paul W. Richards and wife, Bobbie of Derry; a daughter, Paula J. Richards of Latrobe; two grandchildren, Benjamin Richards and Melissa Richards; two brothers, Donald J. " Doc" Richards and wife, Deets of Blairsville and Dale H. Richards and wife, Nancy of Latrobe and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Thomas A., Andrew A. and James C. Richards.The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Wednesday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the funeral home with Rev. August Twigg officiating.Interment will be in Coles Cemetery, Derry, PA.
