Alice Elizabeth (Sterner) Davis, 82, of Blairsville, PA passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at the Indiana Regional Medical Center, Indiana, PA.The daughter of Marcus A. Sterner and Gladys E. (Cadman) Sterner Nemcheck, she was born August 9, 1926 in Fredericktown, PA.Mrs. Davis was a member of the Hebron Lutheran Church, Blairsville, and the AARP.She graduated from Derry Twp. High School in 1945.Surviving are three sons, Mark Davis and wife, Dana of Stephens City, VA; Scott Davis of Blairsville; and Paul Davis and wife, Kaye of Martinsburg, WV; four daughters, Charlene Mihalus and husband, Don of Athens, MI; Cynthia Zajdel of Derry; Georgia Brown and husband, Charles of Beaver Falls; Brenda Kirkland and husband, Mark of Blairsville; 18 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; a brother, Joseph Sterner of Galion, OH; a sister-in-law, Gail Gormley of Derry; former sons-in-law, Albert Zajdel and Thomas Hutton; and numerous nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George A. "Tooter" Davis on December 3, 1978; stepfather, Charles Nemcheck; grandson, Joseph Zajdel and a nephew, William Sterner.The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Friday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairville, PA. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the Hebron Lutheran Church, Blairsville, with Rev. Beverly J. Banyay officiating.Interment will be in Unity Cemetery, Latrobe, PA.
