Robert Anthony Duffner, 87, of Blairsville, PA passed away on Friday, March 13, 2009 at Mountain View Specialty Care Center, Latrobe, PA.The son of Leo T. and Anna (Stitler) Duffner, he was born July 3, 1921 in Blairsville, PA.Mr. Duffner lived his entire life in Blairsville and was a member of SS Simon & Jude Roman Catholic Church and American Legion Post #0407, Blairsville.He graduated from Blairsville High School in 1941 and loved model trains and photography.He was a veteran of the US Army, having served in World War II and was employed by Kennametal, Inc., Latrobe, for 35 years, retiring in 1986.Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Gladys (Kim) Duffner to whom he married September 16, 1948; a son, Robert M. Duffner and wife, Sue of Rochester, NY; two daughters, Susan M. Long and husband, Dennis of Blairsville and Patricia E. Rujak and husband, Paul of Weirton, WV; four grandchildren, Shawn Long, Lynda Long, Michael Rujak and Richard Rujak; three great granddaughters and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Leo, John, Hilary and Thomas Duffner and a sister, Olivia Allshouse.The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Monday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairville, PA, where a Wake service will be held at 8:30 P.M. Monday. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday at SS Simon & Jude Roman Catholic Church, Blairsville, with Fr. Chester J. Raimer as celebrant.Interment will be in SS Simon & Jude Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.
