Regis Jerome Smith, 44, of Indiana, PA, formerly of Blairsville, passed away on Sunday, February 22, 2009 at the Indiana Regional Medical Center, Indiana, PA.The son of John "Johnny" C. and Helen M. (Pavell) Smith, he was born December 2, 1964 in Pittsburgh, PA.Regis attended St. Thomas Moore University Parish, Indiana.He graduated from Blairsville High School in 1983 and played in the marching band, and also attended Westmoreland County Community College.Regis enjoyed model railroads and had worked at the former Blairsville Foodland. He is survived by his mother, Helen Smith of Blairsville; a brother, Kevin Smith and wife, Marianne of Blairsville; two nephews, Christopher Gongloff and Jason Gongloff, both of Blairsville; a great nephew, Jarrett Gongloff; and aunts, uncles and numerous cousins. He will be sadly missed at White's Run Commons by his friends, especially Lucy, Tom and Peg.He was preceded in death by his father on December 24, 2008.The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Wednesday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA where a Wake Service will be held at 8:30 P.M. Wednesday. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Thursday at SS Simon & Jude Roman Catholic Church, Blairsville, with Fr. Chester J. Raimer as celebrant. Interment will be in the Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville.
