Donald Eugene Baird, 79, of Blairsville, PA, passed away on Sunday, December 14, 2008 at the Indiana Regional Medical Center, Indiana, PA.The son of George and Annie (Boring) Baird, he was born December 9, 1929 in Bolivar, PA.Mr. Baird lived in the Bolivar area his entire life. He has worked for West Wheatfield Twp. since 1973 and has been a township supervisor for the past 22 years. Surviving are his wife, Janet C. (Smith) Baird whom he married on August 9, 1972; three sons, Dennis Baird and wife, Karen of Bolivar; Gary Baird and wife, Josie of Bolivar and Kevin Baird and wife, Janice of Blairsville; two daughters, Linda Forsythe and husband, Mark of Robinson and Lisa Appley and husband, Kevin of Johnstown; a stepdaughter, Penny Little and husband, Ronald of Blairsville; 14 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and a sister, Leena Enck of New Florence.He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Arthur, Blair, George and Merle Baird and three sisters, Helen Henderson, Kathryn Muir and Anna Grace Lichtenfels.The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Tuesday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday in the funeral home with Rev. Scott Hamley officiating.Interment will be in Germany Lutheran Cemetery, West Wheatfield Twp., PA.
