Margaret (Vresilovic) Steeves, 58, of Blairsville, PA passed away on Monday, November 17, 2008 at her home after a six year long and courageous battle against multiple sclerosis.The daughter of the late Pete and Sophie Vresilovic, she was born January 1, 1950 in Indiana Hospital.Margaret was a lifetime member of the NEA and PSEA.She was very talented in her craft hobbies of painting, jewelry making and gardening. She also loved dancing with her husband, Bert.Margaret received her Bachelor of Science degree in 1971 from Edinboro University in library science K-12th grade and elementary education. She obtained her masters degree from IUP in 1987 in media communications with a concentration in instructional media. She pursued additional 30 credits from Penn State and IUP post graduate work in general education for permanent certification.She was the first grade teacher at Burrell Elementary School from 1971 to 1981 and was the librarian for Blairsville-Saltsburg School District at both the senior and junior high schools from 1981 to 1988. Margaret was the school library and educational media supervisor for the Pennsylvania Dept. of Education in Harrisburg from 1988 to 1991. In 1991 she was an instructor at Kutztown University of Pennsylvania Department of Library Science. Margaret was head librarian and instructional technology specialist from 1992 to 2002 at Plymouth Whitemarsh High School in Plymouth Meeting, retiring in 2002. She is survived by her beloved husband and best friend, Bert G. Steeves, who also was her primary medical caregiver the past six years, three years at their home on life support; three stepchildren, Samantha of Kansas City, Missouri; Kalen of Colorado and Trevor of Kansas City, Missouri; three grandsons, Hunter, Eli and London; beloved sister-in-law, Carol A. Steeves; her sister, Kathleen; brothers, Pete and Tom; one niece; three nephews and several aunts and uncles. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Tuesday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. Liturgy of the Word will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday in SS Simon & Jude Roman Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Chester J. Raimer officiating and Rev. Beverly J. Banyay assisting.Interment will be in SS Simon & Jude Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.
