Ronald Raymond Silvis, 71, of Blairsville, PA passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Pittsburgh, PA.The son of Raymond G. and Gladys M. (Brownley) Silvis, he was born April 15, 1937 in Bradford, PA.Mr. Silvis was a volunteer for the Agency Services Senior Center, Indiana, along with his mother and father for many years.He retired in 1960 from Ambridge Steel Company.Surviving are his mother, Gladys M. Silvis of Latrobe; a sister, Rita Walther of Blairsville; two nephews, Gary Mongelli of Littleton, Colorado and William Mongelli of Massachusetts; two nieces, Tamsen DiBlasio of Baltimore, Maryland and Lisa Benham of Orlando, Florida.He was preceded in death by his father and a brother-in-law, John E. Walther.The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Friday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut Street, Blairsville, PA. A funeral service will be held at 11:30 A.M. Saturday in the funeral home with Fr. Chester J. Raimer officiating.Interment will be in Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.
