Jean(Osterwise) Porter, 87, of Blairsville, PA passed away on Sunday, July 13, 2008 at the Indiana Regional Medical Center, Indiana, PA.The daughter of Oliver O. and Lucy J. (Fox) Osterwise, she was born August 7, 1920 in Connellsville, PA.She graduated from Connellsville High School with the class of 1938.Mrs. Porter lived in Blairsville for the past 48 years. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church, Blairsville, where she was an ordained elder and deacon and sang in the choir. Surviving are a son, Dennis Porter and wife, Kathy of Penn Run; two daughters, Linda Jacobs and husband, James of Reading and Donna Witt and husband, Kevin of Sidney, Ohio; 11 grandchildren, Shawn andScott Jacobs, Shannon Wells, Marcie Runnells, Tom Porter, Megan, Amy and Kevin Witt,Michael, Joseph and Andrew Strong;nine great grandchildren; two sisters, Ethel Gunn of Jacksonville, Florida and Dorothy Mingle of Greensburg, PA and several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thomas O. Porter in 1983; a brother, Oliver O. Osterwise Jr., and three sisters, Mary Vorrasi, Lillian Echard and Olive Ulery.The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Tuesday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday in the United Presbyterian Church, Blairsville, PA with Rev. Timothy R. Monroe officiating.Interment will be in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Connellsville, PA.Memorial contributions may be made to the United Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund, 137 N.
