Christine Dolores (DiPerna) Short, 79, of Gray Station, PA passed away on Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at her home.The daughter of Pasquale and Zella (Newhouse) DiPerna, she was born July 23, 1928 at Crows Nest, PA.Mrs. Short lived most of her life in Gray Station where she was a member of the Gray Station Community Church.She worked as a nurse's aide at Edgewood Nursing Center, Youngstown, for 16 years, retiring in 1985.Surviving are her husband of 60 years, Walter E. Short, whom she married on October 11, 1947; three sons, Paul J. Short of Gray Station; Walter H. Short of Gray Station; Garry L. Short of West Lebanon; two daughters, Dolores J. Cowan of Brenizer and Patricia A. Davis and husband, Melvin of Derry; 11 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; brother, Patrick DiPerna of McKeesport; two sisters, Dolores Skalski and fiancé, Paul of White Oak and Zella Halloway of Smithton.She was preceded in death by her parents; eight brothers; three sisters; son-in-law, William K. Cowan and a daughter-in-law, Linda A. Short.The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 P.M. Thursday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Friday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday in the funeral home with Rev. James R. Henigin officiating.Interment will be in Germany Lutheran Cemetery, West Wheatfield Twp., PA.
