Wesley George Anderson, 84, of Blairsville, PA (Derry Twp.) passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2008 at Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg, PA.The son of George and Ruth (Thompson) Anderson, he was born March 10, 1924 in Dubois, PA.Mr. Anderson lived in Palatka, Florida for 35 years and the past three years with his daughter, Susan.He was a member of the Mt. Zion Methodist Church, Dubois and the American Legion, Wormleysburg, PA.He graduated from Sandy Township High School in 1942 and was a veteran of the US Air Force, having flown 52 combat missions during World War II.Prior to his retirement in 1984, he was superintendent of special projects for Sheffield Steel, Palatka, Florida.Surviving are his wife, Ina I. (Daugherty) Anderson whom he married on September 20, 1944; a daughter, Susan I. Anderson of Blairsville; a son, Jay W. Anderson and wife, Cherilyn of Delmont; a sister, Roberta Pifer of Punxsutawny and three brothers, William Anderson of Carrollton, Texas, Donald Anderson of Albuquerque, New Mexico and George Anderson of Delaware. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ernest.There will be no visitation or funeral service.Interment will be in Beechwood Cemetery, Falls Creek, PA.The Shoemaker Funeral Home, 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA is in charge of the arrangements.
