Helen L. (Grater) Baker, 82, of Black Lick, PA passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 1, 2008 at her home surrounded and comforted by her loving family.The daughter of Charles J. and Laila (Williams) Grater, she was born August 3, 1925 in Black Lick, PA.Mrs. Baker graduated from Blairsville High School in 1943 and was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Blairsville.She was a lab technician at Torrance State Hospital and she and her husband, Edgar, owned and operated E & H Ceramics in Blairsville.She will be missed dearly.Surviving are her husband of 62 years, Edgar R. Baker and their children, Edgar C. Baker and wife, Julie of Blairsville; Samantha Lehr of Hanson, Massachusetts; Laila Davidson and husband, Ben of Gilbert, Arizona and Gretchen Carmo and husband, Gary of Odenton, Maryland; five grandchildren, Joshua Lehr, Jonathan Lehr, Matthew Davidson and wife, Helen, Jennifer Taylor and husband James and Steven Carmo and three great grandchildren, Lindsey Davidson, Alexa Davidson and Chase Taylor.She was preceded in death by her parents.The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Tuesday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday in the funeral home with Rev. Terry Shaffer officiating.Interment will be in the Blairsville Cemetery.
