Richard John Lawry, 83, of Blairsville, PA passed away on Thursday, March 20, 2008 at his home.The son of Richard H. and Mary (Swintek) Lawry, he was born June 26, 1924 in Latrobe, PA.Mr. Lawry graduated from Latrobe High School in 1942 and attended the University of Pittsburgh.He served in the US Army.He was a member of Acacia Lodge #355 F&AM and BPOE #406, both of Blairsville.Prior to his retirement in 1983, he worked for Syntron Co., Homer City and FMC, San Jose, CA as a manufacturing engineer.Surviving are two children, a son, Richard B. Lawry and wife, Kathleen of Sinking Spring, PA and a daughter, Janet Shafer and husband, Alvin of Edinboro, PA; six grandchildren, Richard, Scott, Brian, Amy, Jeff and Brent and a brother, Clifford Lawry of Muncie, Indiana.He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Helen Jane Morgan in 2008.The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 P.M. Friday, March 28, at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, March 29, at the funeral home with Rev.
