Mary Jo (Stine) Compton, 73, of Clarksburg, PA passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2008 at St. Andrew's Village, Indiana, PA.The daughter of James E. and Mary (Gosnell) Stine, she was born August 27, 1934 in Greensburg, PA.Mrs. Compton was a member of the Trinity Presbyterian Church, Clarksburg, PA.She graduated from Greensburg High School in 1952 and from IUP in 1956 with a bachelor's degree in elementary education. She taught remedial reading for the Blairsville-Saltsburg School District for 17 years, retiring in 1981.Surviving are her husband, James T. Compton whom she married on June 21, 1958; two sons, J. William Compton and wife, Linda of Clarksburg and Barry T. Compton and wife, Duffy of Johnstown; a daughter, Cheryl Black and husband, Virgil of Saltsburg; and eight grandchildren, Rebecca Compton, Jessica Compton, Elizabeth Compton, Angela Compton, Stephanie Compton, James Black, Nicholas Black and Colby Black.She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, James R. Stine.The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Friday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the Trinity Presbyterian Church, Clarksburg, PA with Rev. Dr. Tom R. Jones officiating.Interment will be in Edgewood Cemetery, Saltsburg, PA
