Merle A. "Bud" Yellets, 80, of Blairsville went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 29, 2008 while vacationing in Europe.The son of John Vincent and Marie Mame (Douglas) Yellets, he was born May 3, 1927 in Keith, WV.He attended Blairsville High School.He proudly served as a decorated World War II army veteran and worked 30+ years at Western Electric (AT&T), retiring in 1990.His interest included spending time with his family, traveling and sports. Surviving are three sons, Barry A. Yellets and wife, Kelly of Odessa, FL; Dean A. Yellets and wife, Kathy of Cary, NC and Michael C. Yellets and wife, Dawn of Blairsville; two daughters, Barbara D. Banocy and husband, Donald of Mechanicsburg and Karen A. Brubaker and husband, James of Blairsville; seventeen grandchildren, Ben Yellets, Jennifer Herb and husband, David, Tim Yellets, Chris Banocy and wife, Kristen, Patrick Banocy and wife, Andrea, Ashley Asper and husband, Joshua, Valerie Turner and husband, Cullen, Brent Himes, Kelsey Yellets, Samuel Yellets, James Brubaker III and wife, Darci, Nathanael Brubaker and wife, Johanna, Joelle Brubaker, Taylor Brubaker, Amanda Yellets, Michael Yellets and Emily Yellets; three great grandchildren, Hannah Ellie Brubaker, Isaak John Herb and Kaitlyn Marie Asper; and two brothers, Lyle Yellets and wife, Phyllis of Blairsville and Paul Yellets and wife, Eileen of Blairsville.He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, the love of his life, Helen L. "Ellie" (Berkey) Yellets in 2002; brothers, Donald Wallace, John Yellets, Carl Yellets and infant sisters. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 P.M. Sunday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday at the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, Blairsville, with Pastor James W. Brubaker and Pastor John McMannus co-officiating. Interment will be in the Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Merle A. and Helen L. Yellets Memorial Education Fund, P.O.
