Joseph T. Calabrese, 86, of Blairsville, PA passed away on Friday, December 14, 2007 at the Indiana Regional Medical Center, Indiana, PA.A son of Thomas and Josephine (D'Amico) Calabrese, he was born November 9, 1921 in Blairsville, PA.Mr. Calabrese lived in Blairsville his entire life.He was a member of SS Simon & Jude Roman Catholic Church, Blairsville, Italian Mutual Aid Society, Blairsville, and the American Legion, Indiana.He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the US Army and worked for Conrail, retiring in 1982.Survived by wife of 61 years, Josephine A. (Certo) Calabrese, whom he married on September 14, 1946; two sons, Paul A. Calabrese (Mary) of Mauldin, SC and Frank L. Calabrese (Debbie) of Blairsville; a daughter, Patricia A. Calabrese (Tim Clark) of New Florence; nine grandchildren, Joseph Irwin, Chad Calabrese, Kristen Key, Patricia Clark, Timothy Clark, James Clark, Heather Robinson, Brian Bienz and Timothy Bienz; two great grandchildren, Kaige Calabrese and Shayla McCreey; and a sister, Dora Clawson of Blairsville and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Joseph in 1958 and three brothers, Mario, Thomas and Emidio.The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Monday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA where a Wake service will be held on Monday at 8:30 P.M. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday at SS Simon & Jude Roman Catholic Church, Blairsville, with Fr. Chester J. Raimer as celebrant.Interment will be in SS Simon & Jude Cemetery, Blairsville.Military services will be accorded by the Blairsville VFW Post #5821 and the American Legion #0407.Memorial contributions may be made to the SS Simon & Jude Roman Catholic Church, 155 North Brady St., Blairsville, PA 15717
