Alex J. Denkovich, Jr., 85, of Blairsville, PA (Brenizer) passed away on Friday, November 9, 2007 at Select Specialty Hospital, Latrobe, PA.A son of Alex and Theresa (Vrabel) Hetcko Denkovich, he was born December 7, 1921 in Nanto Glo, PA.Mr. Denkovich was a member of SS Simon & Jude Roman Catholic Church, Blairsville and was a veteran of World War II, having served in the US Army.He lived most of his life in Brenizer where he attended the Brenizer School and worked in the Brenizer mine until it closed. He also worked at the Brenizer Machine Shop.He enjoyed hunting, gardening and raising chickens and rabbits.Surviving are two sisters, Katheryn Sracic and Margaret Bly, both of Brenizer and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Pete P. Denkovich on July 22, 2007, John, Andrew, Steve and Joseph Hetcko and two sisters, Mary Hetcko and Anna Kovach.The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Sunday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA where a Wake service will be held at 8:30 P.M. Sunday. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Monday at SS Simon & Jude Roman Catholic Church, Blairsville, with Fr. Chester J. Raimer as celebrant.Interment will be in SS Simon & Jude Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.
