Edna Mae (Beer) Auen, 73, of Blairsville, PA passed away on Saturday, October 6, 2007 at Loyalhanna Care Center, Latrobe, PA.A daughter of Samuel C. and Edna (Saltsgiver) Beer, she was born December 19, 1933 in Blairsville, PA.Mrs. Auen was a member of the United Presbyterian Church, LOOM #187 and FOE #1488 Auxiliary, all of Blairsville.She graduated from Blairsville High School in 1955 and worked as a caregiver.Surviving are a stepson, Ronald Auen of Monaca; a sister-in-law, Gertrude Jones and husband, Dwight of Butler; a niece, Bonnie Hays and husband, Thomas of Pittsburgh; a nephew, Sigmund Digetz of Limestone, NY; seven great nieces and nephews and four great-great nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harry W. "Bill" Auen on May 2, 2006 and two sisters, Dorothy Borkowski in 1989 and Helen Dell in 1990.The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Wednesday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday at the funeral home with Rev. Timothy R. Monroe officiating.Interment will be in Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.
