Francesca (Astolfi) Mataldi, 99, of Blairsville, PA (Brenizer) passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Thursday, June 28, 2007.The daughter of Antonio and Carolina (Rossi) Astolfi, she was born December 28, 1907 in Montegallo Castro, Italy.Mrs. Mataldi was a member of SS Simon & Jude Roman Catholic Church, Blairsville, PA.Surviving are two sons, Alan Mataldi of Gaithersburg, MD and Anthony Mataldi of New Kensington, PA; three daughters, Lavina Lasser of Blairsville; Rita Dettorre and husband, Joseph of Pittsburgh and Elizabeth Ditenhafer and husband, David of Carlisle; 13 grandchildren, Kimberly Zakowski, Kathleen Mullaney, Karen Dahut, Jamie Hamrick, John Mataldi, Carrie Bredenkamp, Mary Lasser, Joseph Lasser, Christine Lasser, Colleen Szuch, Jo Lynn Lussier, Barbara Ditenhafer and David Ditenhafer; 10 great grandchildren; two sisters, Irma Astolfi and Palmira Astolfi, both of Italy.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Antonio Mataldi on January 16, 1982; a grandson, Raymond Lasser; two daughters-in-law, Carol Mataldi and Marcia Mataldi; a son-in-law, Joseph Lasser; a brother, Nemese Astolfi and two sisters, Lea Mataldi and Gina Mattrucci.The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Sunday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA where a Wake service will be held at 8:30 P.M. Sunday. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Monday at SS Simon & Jude Roman Catholic Church, Blairsville, with Fr. Chester J. Raimer as celebrant.Interment will be in SS Simon & Jude Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.Memorial contributions may be made to the SS Simon & Jude Endowment Fund.
