The Rev. Richard M. King, 81, of Blairsville, PA passed away on Wednesday, June 20, 2007 at the Keeper of the Flame, Blairsville.The son of Floyd E. and Ethel M. (Phillips) King, he was born April 26, 1926 in Pittsburgh, PA.The Rev. King was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Blairsville.He was a veteran of the US Army Air Corp.He graduated from Castle Shannon High School in 1944 and from the University of Pittsburgh in 1950 with a degree in business administration. He received his masters of Divinity in 1957 from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary.The Rev. King was a pastor for 41 years before his retirement. He was pastor of the Saltsburg Methodist Church (1954-56), Wilkinsburg (1956-59), Greenock (1959-63), Washington (1963-69), Trafford (1969-74), North East (1974-78), Sharpsville (1978-82), Johnstown, Bethany Methodist (1982-84) and the First United Methodist Church, Blairsville (1984-95).Surviving are his wife, Lois J. (Leyshon) King whom he married on August 14, 1983; a son, Richard M. King and wife, Ruth of Erie; two daughters, Vicky Herrmann of North East; Susan Spacht and husband, Charles of Erie; two stepdaughters, Rebecca Cullinane and husband, Michael of Union Bridge, MD and Heidi Irwin of Savannah, Georgia; 10 grandchildren and one great grandson.He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Phillip and Herbert.The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Friday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA and from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M. Saturday in the parlor of the First United Methodist Church, Blairsville. Funeral services will be held in the church at 11:00 A.M. Saturday with Rev. Terry Shaffer officiating.Interment will be in the Blairsville Cemetery.Military services will be accorded by the Blairsville VFW Post #5821 and the American Legion #0407.Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 50 South Walnut St., Blairsville, PA 15717
