Thomas Raymond Duffner, 79, of Blairsville, PA passed away on Friday, April 13, 2007 at Beacon Ridge, Indiana, PA.A son of Leo T. and Anna (Stitler) Duffner, he was born August 7, 1927 in Blairsville, PA.Mr. Duffner was a member of SS Simon & Jude Roman Catholic Church and BPOE #406, both of Blairsville. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening and reading.He graduated from Blairsville High School in 1946 and was a US Navy veteran. He worked in research and development for Kennametal, Inc., Latrobe, PA for 38 years, retiring in 1989.Surviving are his wife, Barbara A. (Murray) Duffner whom he married on July 26, 1986; five stepchildren, Michael S. Garmon and wife, Nancy of Whitney; Matthew W. Garmon of Blairsville; Robert J. Garmon and wife, Christine of Monongahela; Elizabeth J. Garmon of Ben Avon and Laura K. Garmon of Pittsburgh; five step-grandchildren, Dain, Leah, Anna Barbara, Kevin and Brooke; one step-great-grandchild, Nicana; a brother, Robert Duffner and wife, Gladys of Blairsville and numerous nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Leo, John and Hiliary Duffner and a sister, Olivia Allshouse.The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Sunday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA where a Wake service will be held on Sunday at 8:30 P.M. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 P.M. Monday at SS Simon & Jude Roman Catholic Church, Blairsville, PA with Fr. Chester J. Raimer as celebrant.Interment will be in SS Simon & Jude Cemetery, Blairsville, PA
