John G. Cunkelman Jr., 90, of Blairsville, PA passed away on Sunday, March 4, 2007 in the Communities of Indian Haven, Indiana, PA.The son of John G. Cunkelman Sr. and Bertha A. (Taylor) Cunkelman, he was born September 9, 1916 in Blacklick Twp., Indiana Co., PA.Mr. Cunkelman was a member of the United Presbyterian Church, Acacia Lodge #355 F&AM and BPOE #406, Blairsville.He worked 37 years for Conrail, retiring in 1976 as an engineer.Surviving are two daughters, Patricia A. Cunkelman of Blairsville and Darlene R Kimball and husband, Douglas of Blairsville; three grandchildren, Gerald Halldin Jr., Tisha Cochran and Josh Jon Halldin; eight grandchildren, Taylor Halldin, Morgan and John Cochran, Sara, Lauren, Derek, Noel and Charity Halldin; five brothers, Ralph Cunkelman and wife, Kathy of Auburn, WA; Walter Cunkelman and wife, Betty of Clarksburg; Oliver Cunkelman and wife, Susan of Blairsville; Willis Cunkelman and wife, Jackie of Blairsville and Paul Cunkelman and wife, Sally of Blairsville; two sisters, Bertha McConnaughey and husband, Harold of Blairsville and Sally Weatherford and husband, Luther of Oklahoma City, OK.He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Edith (Patti) Cunkelman in 1978; four brothers, William, George, Earl and David Cunkelman and a sister, Ruth Fink.The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Tuesday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday in the funeral home with Rev. Timothy R. Monroe and Rev. Dr. Roger D. Petersen co-officiating.Interment will be in the Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.Elks services will be held in the funeral home at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday and Masonic will be held in the funeral home at 7:30 P.M. Tuesday.
