Carl E. "Ki" Auen, 82, of Blairsville, PA passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2007 at his home.He was born January 24, 1925 in Livermore, PA, the son of Charles E. and Hazel Bricker Auen.Mr. Auen attended the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, Blairsville, PA. He was a life member of the Blairsville Volunteer Fire Department and BPOE #406, Blairsville, and a member of the Blairsville VFW Post #5821, Saltsburg American Legion, Acacia Lodge #355 F&AM, Blairsville, Coudersport Consistory, Jaffa Shrine and Indiana County Shrine Club.He enjoyed being with and walking his dogs, Penny and Dixie, gardening and sharing his produce with his friends and mowing the grass.He was a US Army veteran of World War II, serving in the armor division and received the Purple Heart.Mr. Auen worked at Federal Lab. Tunnelton, for 49 years, retiring in 1990.He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Annabell Mikesel Auen whom he married August 31, 1943; two daughters, Sharon A. Alicea and husband, Jose of Blairsville; Linda A. Armendariz and husband, Grant of Mesa, AZ; four grandchildren, Debbie Palmer; Ashley A. Duran; Melanie Armendariz and Lindsey Armendariz; a great grandson, Chad Dickson; four brothers, Wayne O. Auen and wife, Florence of Tucson, AZ; Dave Auen and wife, Lorraine of Port Orange, FL; Edgar Auen and wife, Dorothy of Clarksburg; Stanley Auen of Clarksburg; five sisters, Doris Latham and husband, John of Daytona Beach, FL; Joanne Clawson and husband, Ron of York; Arlene Barnhart and husband, Paul of Derry; Audrey Brinker and husband, Milton of Delmont and Judy Jobe of Delmont.He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Paula Dickson; a brother, Gene Auen and a sister, Alma Buttkevitz. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Friday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA.Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. John McMannus officiating.Interment will be in the Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.Military services will be accorded by the Blairsville VFW Post #5821 and the American Legion.
