Dan Spiaggi, 84, of Black Lick, PA passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 17, 2007 at St. Andrew's Village, Indiana, surrounded by his family.A son of Joseph and Filomena Raglani Spiaggi, he was born January 24, 1922 in Black Lick, PA.Mr. Spiaggi was a member of St. Francis Roman Catholic Church, Coral; United Mine Workers of America, Local #1412, Aultman; Black Lick Sportsman's Club; Burrell Twp. Rod & Gun Club and the New Florence VFW Post #7622.He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army and retired in 1985 as a coal miner from Helen Mines. Surviving are two sons, Dannie J. Spiaggi and wife, Toni of Black Lick and Bruce E. Spiaggi and wife, Sharon of Jeannette; two grandsons, Travis and Kevin Spiaggi; two sisters, Mary Avalli of Black Lick and Louise Timko of Bradenville.He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Sara Miller Spiaggi in 1985; and two brothers, John and Aldo Spiaggi.The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Friday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA where a Wake service will be held at 8:30 P.M. Friday. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Saturday at SS Simon & Jude Roman Catholic Church, Blairsville, with Fr. Chester J. Raimer as celebrant.Interment will be in SS Simon & Jude Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.Military services will be accorded by the Blairsville VFW Post #5821 and the American Legion.
