Francis C. "Dewey" Stiffey, Sr., 73, of Blairsville, PA (West Wheatfield Twp.) passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2007 at the Indiana Regional Medical Center, Indiana, PA.A son of Wesley E. and Lena Muir Stiffey, he was born September 20, 1933 in Fairfield Twp., Westmoreland Co., PA.Mr. Stiffey attended the Church of the Nazarene, Homer City, PA.He was a Korean War Navy veteran and had worked as a laborer.Surviving are his wife of 35 years, Lois J. Roles Stiffey whom he married on May 19, 1971; a son Francis C. "Dewey" Stiffey, Jr. of Blairsville; a daughter Cathy Y. DeWald and husband Brett of Butler and seven siblings. He was very fond of his brother, Wayne.He was preceded in death by his parents and eight siblings.The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Friday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Gary J. Smith officiating.Interment will be in the Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.Military services will be accorded by the Blairsville VFW Post #5821 and the American Legion.
