Dr. Raymond David Heiser, Ph.D., 75, of New Florence, PA formerly of Blairsville passed away Sunday, December 17, 2006, at the home of his friends, Paul and Becky Boring.He was born February 16, 1931 in Glassport, PA, a son of Michael A. and Veronica Potamro Heiser.Dr. Heiser was a member of St. Martin de Porres Roman Catholic Church (Holy Trinity Site), McKeesport, PA.He played the violin proficiently, enjoyed the opera, trains and old movies.He attended the University of Pittsburgh and Duquesne University where he received his doctorate degree in psychology. He worked at Torrance State Hospital, beginning as a clinical psychologist intern in 1962 and retiring on April 17, 1998 as a Psychologist III and Head Director of the Psychology Dept. He was a veteran of the US Air Force.Surviving are a brother, Victor Heiser and wife, Sue of Inverness, FL; two sisters, Dorothy Ellis of North Huntingdon and Bernice Palmiero and husband, John of Glassport; a nephew; two nieces; four great nephews; five great nieces.He was preceded in death by his parents.The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Wednesday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Thursday at the St. Martin de Porres Roman Catholic Church (Holy Trinity Site), McKeesport, PA with Rev. Fr. Richard Wesoloski as celebrant.Entombment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, North Versailles, PA.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Patients Indigent Fund, %Torrance State Hospital, Torrance, PA 15779 or to a charity of one's choice.
