Marguerite (Dick) George, 89, of Blairsville, PA passed away on Monday, October 2, 2006 at the Keeper of the Flame-Morewood Towers, Blairsville, PA.A daughter of Alex L. and Matilda McCrea Dick, she was born July 19, 1917 in Brush Valley, PA.Mrs. George was a member of the Blairsville United Presbyterian Church where she was a ruling elder, Sunday school teacher of the Mizpah Bible Class for 45 years and treasurer of the Presbyterian Women's Association. She was also a member of the Historical Society of the Blairsville Area, N.E.A. and P.S.E.A.She graduated from Blairsville High School in 1931 and from Indiana State Teachers College (IUP) in 1934.Mrs. George taught for 27 years in the Blacklick Twp. and Blairsville schools and retired in 1986 as librarian of the Blairsville Public Library.She is survived by two brothers, Stewart Dick and wife, Florence of Blairsville and Mack Dick of Amarillo, Texas; a sister-in-law, Margie Nell George of Blairsville and several nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Donald L. George on May 8, 1990.The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Wednesday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday at the United Presbyterian Church, Blairsville, PA with Rev. Timothy R. Monroe officiating.Interment will be in the Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.Memorial contributions may be made to the Blairsville Public Library Operating Fund, 113 N.
