Rudolph Metalla, 79, of Hillsdale, PA formerly of Blairsville passed away on Thursday, September 28, 2006 at the Beverly Healthcare Mountain View, Hillsdale, PA.The son of Joseph and Anna Lupco Metalla, he was born June 5, 1927 in Coral, PA.He was of the catholic faith.Mr. Metalla lived in the Blairsville area most of his life where he was a self-employed mechanic.He enjoyed shooting pool, gardening, horseshoes and fishing.Surviving is his wife, Betty C. McCaulley Metalla whom he married October 13, 1971; three children, Peggy Beich and husband, David of Blairsville; Cathy "Boogee" Gaines and husband, Wade of Blairsville and Rudi Metalla of Winston-Salem, NC; 10 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; a brother, Frank Metalla of Black Lick; two sisters, Helen Greeman of St. Louis, MO and Margaret Stein of Blairsville.He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, John V. Kim in 1984; three brothers, John, Mike and Joseph Metalla and two sisters, Mary D'Andrea and Ann Kuzma.The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 P.M. Sunday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A Prayer service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday in the funeral home with Msgr.Larry Kiniry officiating.Interment will be in SS Simon & Jude Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.
