Mervin Wade Lichtenfels, 73, Indiana, PA formerly of Blairsville passed away on Thursday, August 31, 2006 at his home.The son of Glenn and Doradeane Boring Lichtenfels, he was born August 6, 1933 in Clyde, PA.Mr. Lichtenfels attended the Indiana Church of the Brethren. He graduated from Blairsville High School in 1951 and was a US Army veteran of the Korean War.Prior to his retirement in 1993, he was employed by Westinghouse Electric, Blairsville, for 37 years.Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Roberta Bennett Lichtenfels whom he married March 28, 1953; three children, Timothy Lichtenfels and wife, Cindy of Lower Burrell; Joni Melnick and husband, James of Blairsville and Alan Lichtenfels of Johnstown;and a granddaughter, Lauren Melnick of Cleveland, Ohio.He was preceded in death by his parents.The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Friday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the funeral home with Pastor Horace Derr officiating.
