Francis David Meloy, 87, of Blairsville, PA passed away on Wednesday, April 12, 2006 at Beacon Ridge, Indiana, PA.A son of Thomas and Margaret Hammill Meloy, he was born March 1, 1919 in Blairsville, PA.Mr. Meloy lived his entire life in Blairsville where he was a member of SS Simon & Jude Roman Catholic Church.Prior to his retirement in 1978, he was employed by Federal Laboratories, Tunnelton, for 30 years.Surviving are two sons, Dr. Francis J. Meloy and wife, Lorrie of Altoona; Dr. Thomas J. Meloy and wife, Roxanne of Saltsburg; a stepson, David Bowers and wife, Betty of Blairsville and a stepdaughter, Judith Mish and husband, Edward of Johnstown; 20 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and a brother, John Meloy of Raleigh, NC.He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 47 years, Helen C. McCaulley Meloy on July 25, 1993; a daughter, Janet Fozard; stepson, Donald Bowers; granddaughter, Debra Nicholson; grandson, John Nicholson; three brothers, Leo, James and Joseph Meloy; five sisters, Jean Suman, Alice Meloy, Dorothy Meloy, Mary Murray and Martha Nicol.The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Friday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A Prayer service will be held at 8:00 P.M. Friday in the funeral home with Fr. Chester J. Raimer officiating.Interment will be in SS Simon & Jude Cemetery, Blairsville, PA
