Raymond Stanley Apryasz, 82, of Blairsville, PA passed away on Monday, March 6, 2006 at Excela Health Latrobe Area Hospital, Latrobe, PA.The son of Stanley R. and Louise Fundykowski Apryasz, he was born December 25, 1923 in Pittsburgh, PA.Mr. Apryasz was a member of SS Simon & Jude Roman Catholic Church, Blairsville, Angels of Compassion of the church and BPOE#406, Blairsville.He loved his grandchildren, church and polka music, enjoyed gardening and bowling in various leagues. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steeler fan and season ticket holder. Prior to his retirement in 1985, he was employed by Torrance State Hospital for 32 years. Surviving are three children, Stanley "Stush" Apryasz and wife, Toni of Blairsville; Sandra Dyke McLaughlin of Lake Worth, FL and Sharon Eicher of Pittsburgh; six grandchildren, Brian Dyke, Stefanie McLaughlin, Holly Best, Raymond J. Apryasz, Darren Eicher and Joshua D. Apryasz; three great grandchildren, Hannah, Brian Jr. and Dylan Dyke; and a sister, Frances Komosinski of Carnegie, PA.He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Virginia Fletcher Apryasz on November 11, 2004.The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 P.M. Wednesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Thursday at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, where a Wake service will be held at 8:30 P.M. Thursday. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Friday at SS Simon & Jude Roman Catholic Church, Blairsville, with Fr. Chester J. Raimer as celebrant. Interment will be in SS Simon & Jude Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.Elks services will be held in the funeral home at 7:30 P.M. Thursday.
