Edward Boyd Suman, 88, of Blairsville, PA passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2005 at his home.A son of Edward C. and Maude B. Kirkland Suman, he was born May 12, 1917 in Blairsville, PA.Mr. Suman was a member of the Hebron Lutheran Church, Blairsville; Acacia Lodge #355 F&AM, Blairsville; Coudersport Consistory; Jaffa Shrine; life member of BPOE #406, Blairsville; Historical Society of the Blairsville Area; former member of the Blairsville Cemetery and was a volunteer taking burn patients to the Shriners Hospital.Prior to his retirement in 1975, he was employed by Westinghouse Electric, East Pittsburgh, PA for 35 years.Surviving are two sons, Ronald L. Suman and wife, Diana of Elders Ridge, PA; and William J. Suman and wife, Cathy of Black Lick, PA; three daughters, Mary Ann Ofman of Armagh, PA; Nancy Harris and husband, Don Starusheim of Blairsville, PA and Linda Richards and husband, Michael of Avonmore, PA; 13 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren and a sister, Betty Zimmers of Blairsville, PA.He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jean Meloy Suman on January 5, 1989; a son, Thomas Suman in 1940; son-in-law, Ray Ofman; grandson, Richard Ofman; granddaughter, Mary Jo Ofman; two brothers, Roy and John Suman and three sisters, Louise Ramsden; Ruth Weaver and Marie Suman.The family will receive friends on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. Services will be held in the funeral home on Saturday at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Beverly Banyay officiating.Interment will be in SS Simon & Jude Cemetery, Blairsville, PAMemorial contributions may be made to the Latrobe Dialysis Center, 121 West 2nd Avenue, Latrobe, PA 15650.Elk's services will be held in the funeral home on Friday at 7:30 P.M. and Masonic services will be held in the funeral home on Friday at 7:45 P.M.
