Blanche "Mellott" Harper, 89, of Melbourne, FL formerly of Black Lick, PA went home to be with her Lord and Savior on November 10, 2005 in Tandem Health Care, Melbourne, FL.A daughter of Carl and Lillian Blanche Mellott Mellott, she was born November 16, 1915 in Fulton Co., PA.Mrs. Harper was a member of the Black Lick United Methodist Church.She was the former owner of the Sugar Bowl in Black Lick from 1952 to 1978.Surviving are two sons, Dalton Harper and wife, Phyllis of Hershey, PA and Homer Harper and wife, Beverly of Blairsville, PA; a daughter, Dorothy Vance and husband, Kenneth of Melbourne, FL; 14 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Branson L. Harper on April 11, 1965; a daughter, Carol Hill on July 16, 1987 and three brothers, Wallace, Fred and Herman Mellott. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 7 to 9 P.M. and Wednesday from 9:30 to 11:00 A.M. in the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut Street, Blairsville, PA. Services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. in the funeral home with her nephew, Rev. Gerald Mellott officiating.Interment will be in the Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville, PA. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Black Lick United Methodist Church.
