Dorothy Smith Poret, 88, of New Orleans, LA passed away on Saturday, October 29, 2005 in St. Andrew's Village, Indiana, PA.A daughter of Mitchell and Nancy Robinson Smith, she was born February 6, 1917 in New Orleans, LA.Mrs. Poret moved to Blairsville on September 4, 2005. She was a member of the St. Peter AME Church, New Orleans, usher board of the church and the Women's Missionary Society. She worked in private duty as a practical nurse. Surviving are three children, Karl Poret and wife Mildred of Missouri City, TX; Dr. Lorraine Wilson and husband, James of Blairsville, PA and Wanda G. Poret of Blairsville, PA; six grandchildren, Angele Wilson-Gant; Arianne Wilson-Pearson; Karl Poret Jr.; Clarence Poret Jr.; Corey Poret and Andrea Poret; four great grandchildren; and a brother, Clyde Smith Sr. of Bayside, NY.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clarence Poret in 1990; a son, Clarence B. Poret; four brothers, Ernest, Mitchell, Warren and Vernon Smith; and a sister, Ruby Smith-Gayle.The family will receive friends in the Calvary Presbyterian Church, Indiana, PA on Friday from 8:30 to 10:00 A.M. the time of the funeral service with Rev. Dr. Richard Speer officiating.Interment will be in the Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.
