James M. Russell, 59, of Blairsville, PA (Blacklick Twp.) passed away on Thursday, October 13, 2005 in the Indiana Regional Medical Center, Indiana, PA.A son of Harvey Miller and Mary Strouse Russell, he was born December 3, 1945 in Bellefonte, PA.Mr. Russell was a member of the Blairsville United Presbyterian Church where he was a ruling elder, Acacia Lodge #355 F&AM, Blairsville; Jaffa Shrine; Indiana County Shrine Club; Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite; Retired State Trooper's Association; American Association for State Troopers; Rocky Mountain Elk Federation; Northeast Highland Cattle Association; National Rifle Association and the Black Lick Sportsmen's Club.He graduated from Huntingdon High School, Huntingdon, PA in 1963; attended Penn State University and graduated from the Pennsylvania State Police Academy in 1969.Mr. Russell retired from the Pennsylvania State Police in 1993 as a corporal and was owner of J.M. Russell Services.Surviving are his wife of 39 years, Patricia "Pam" Miller Russell whom he married on October 1, 1969; three daughters, Caroline S. Frampton and husband, Mark of Ashburn, VA; Catherine R. Kohan and husband, David of Pittsburgh, PA and Christine A. Bryson and husband, Kirby of Hebron, MD; five grandchildren; two brothers, John H. Russell and wife, Janet of Roaring Springs, PA; Gordon M. Russell of Roaring Springs, PA and a sister, Mary Jane Jones and husband, L. Roger of Williamstown, WV.He was preceded in death by his parents.The family will receive friends on Sunday from 12 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. Funeral services will be held in the United Presbyterian Church, 137 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA on Monday at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Timothy R. Monroe officiating.Interment will be private.Masonic services will be held in the funeral home on Sunday at 7:30 P.M. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association or to a charity of the donor's choice.
