Bernard P. Conway, Sr., 89, of Blairsville, PA passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2005 in the Bethlen Home, Ligonier, PA.The son of Roy and Rose Reed Conway, he was born April 3, 1916 in Gallitzin, PA.Mr. Conway was a member of SS Simon & Jude Roman Catholic Church, Blairsville, PA where he served as an usher and worked with the Angels of Compassion. He also was a member of the U.A.W. Local #1059.He had been active with the Meals on Wheels and the American Cancer Society and enjoyed dancing with the Mountain View Squares.Prior to his retirement in 1980, he was employed by Kennametal, Inc., Latrobe, PA for 38 years as a tool grinder.Surviving are a son, Lisle Conway and his wife, Sheral of Ligonier, PA; two daughters, Shirley R. Laskie and her husband, Dick of Derry, PA; Karin McKay and her husband, Tom of Latrobe, PA; a daughter-in-law, Michele Conway of Indiana, PA; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Wanda E. Devinney Conway in 1981; a son, Bernard P. Conway, Jr. in 2002; great grandson, Chandler Linville in 1995 and a sister, Anna C. Ruffner.The family will receive friends on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA where a Wake Service will be held on Monday at 8:30 P.M. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:00 A.M. in the SS Simon & Jude Roman Catholic Church, Blairsville, PA with Fr. Chester J. Raimer as celebrant.Interment will be in SS Simon & Jude Cemetery, Blairsville, PA
