John R. Hoffman, 61, of Blairsville, PA passed away on Saturday, April 9, 2005 in Excela Health Latrobe Area Hospital, Latrobe, PA.The son of Mildred C. Cover Hoffman, he was born May 27, 1943 in Baltimore, MD.Mr. Hoffman lived in Blairsville since 1944. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Blairsville, PA, Hempfield Area Education Association, Pennsylvania State Education Association, National Education Association, Pennsylvania Association for Safety Education and the National Council of Teachers of English.He graduated from Blairsville High School in 1961 and from Indiana State Teachers College (IUP) in 1965. He was a teacher in the Hempfield Area School District from 1965-1998, teaching English and Driver's Education. He was presently teaching Driver's Education in the Indiana School District.Surviving are two cousins, Carol Peles and her husband, Pete of Glen Campbell, PA and David R. Marshall of Port Charlotte, FL.He was preceded in death by his mother.Friends will be received on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. in the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA.Services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Paul L. Carter officiating.Interment will be in the Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville, PA
