Gene C. Auen, 84, of Blairsville, PA passed away on Friday, February 25, 2005 in the Oakland Veterans Administration Medical Center, Pittsburgh, PA.The son of Charles E. and Hazel Bricker Auen, he was born December 3, 1920 in Blairsville, PA.Mr. Auen was a 50 year member of Acacia Lodge #355 F & AM, Blairsville, PA; Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Coudersport 33rd degree; Jaffa Temple; Jaffa Shrine Club Lil Vette Unit; Tall Cedars of Lebanon Westmoreland Forest #77; 313 Royal Arch, Indiana, PA; Indiana County Shrine Club; Indiana County Consistory Boosters Club; B.P.O.E. #406, Blairsville, PA; V.F.W Post #5821, Blairsville, PA; American Legion Post #57, Saltsburg, PA; International Association Legions of Honor and the Blairsville Cemetery Board of Directors.He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. ArmyMr. Auen was the owner of Auen Plumbing and Heating, Blairsville, PA from 1960 until his retirement in 1990. Surviving are his wife, Ilene M. Reagan Auen whom he married August 29, 1992; two sons, Donald G. Auen of New Alexandria, PA; Dean K. Auen of Karphaus, PA; a daughter, Daryl Seitz and her husband, Robert of Sewickley, PA; a grandson, Joshua Seitz currently serving in Iraq; an aunt, Martha Campbell of Blairsville, PA; five brothers, Wayne and his wife, Florence of Tucson, AZ; Carl and his wife, Annabelle of Blairsville, PA; Marlin and his wife, Lorraine of Port Orange, FL; Edward and his wife, Dorothy of Clarksburg, PA; Stanley and Sue of Clarksburg, PA; five sisters, Doris Latham and her husband, John of Daytona Beach, FL; Joann Clawson and her husband, Ronald of York, PA; Arlene Barnhart and her husband, Paul of Derry, PA; Audrey Brinker and her husband, Milton of Delmont, PA and Judy Jobe of Delmont, PA.He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Iola Mikesell Auen on February 15, 1991; a son, David O. Auen in 1968 and a sister, Alma Buttkevits in 1971.The family will receive friends on Sunday from 7 to 9 P.M. and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. Liturgy of the Word at SS Simon & Jude Roman Catholic Church, Blairsville, PA on Tuesday at 10:00 A.M. with Fr. Chester J. Raimer officiating.Interment will be in Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville, PAMasonic services will be held in the funeral home on Sunday at 7:30 P.M. and Elks services will be held in the funeral home on Monday at 7:00 P.M.Military services will be accorded by the Blairsville VFW Post #5821 and the American Legion.
