John R. Oravec, 68, of Blairsville, PA (Brenizer) passed away on Tuesday, December 7, 2004 in the James E. Van Zandt VA Medical Center, Altoona, PA.The son of Joseph and Elsie E. Keener Oravec, he was born January 26, 1936 in Coral, PA.Mr. Oravec was a US Navy veteran for 16 years and worked as a painter for Gene Walker Painting, Blairsville, PA.Surviving are two brothers, Joseph I. Oravec and his wife, Geraldine of Latrobe, PA and Bertram "Lou" Oravec of Blairsville, PA; four sisters, Jean Saffron of Ohio; Joann Reeves of St. Petersburg, Florida; Martha Colossimo of Greensburg, PA and Mary Jane Miller of Blairsville, PA. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mary Ann Hershey.The family will receive friends on Monday from 10 to 11 A.M. at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. A Prayer Service will be held in the funeral home on Monday at 11:00 A.M. with Fr. Chester J. Raimer officiating.Interment will be private.
