Virginia Fletcher Apryasz, 79, of Blairsville, PA passed away on Thursday, November 11, 2004 in the Latrobe Area Hospital, Latrobe, PA.The daughter of Phillip and Eva D. Dieling Fletcher, she was born February 14, 1925 in Coral, PA.Mrs. Apryasz was a member of SS Simon & Jude Roman Catholic Church, Blairsville, PA.Prior to her retirement in 1985, she was employed by Torrance State Hospital for 25 years.She enjoyed her grandchildren very much, bowling and playing bridge, her precious parakeet, Sprite, watching the soap opera, The Young and the Restless and Jeopardy. She also liked working on crafts, crossword puzzles and going to dances with her husband and their close friends.Surviving are her husband of 53 years, Raymond S. Apryasz whom she married October 24, 1951; a son, Stanley "Stush" Apryasz and his wife, Toni of Blairsville, PA; two daughters, Sandra Dyke McLaughlin of Lake Worth, Florida and Sharon Eicher of Pittsburgh, PA; six grandchildren, Brian Dyke, Stefanie Dyke, Holly Best, Raymond J. Apryasz, Darren Eicher and Joshua D. Apryasz; three great grandchildren, Hannah Dyke, Brian Dyke Jr. and Dylan Dyke; three brothers, Phillip L. Fletcher of Sylva, North Carolina; Gene T. Fletcher of Homer City, PA and Jack D. Fletcher of Webster, North Carolina.She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Eva Katherine Edmund and Rebecca Wilkerson and three brothers, Andrew, Frank and William Fletcher.The family will receive friends on Saturday from 7 to 9 P.M. and Sunday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA where a Wake service will be held on Sunday at 8:30 P.M. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00 A.M. in the SS Simon & Jude Roman Catholic Church, Blairsville, PA with Fr. Chester J. Raimer as celebrant.Interment will be in SS Simon & Jude Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.
