Velda E. Bowser Schawl, 78, of Blairsville, PA died on Sunday, October 10, 2004 in the Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA.A daughter of James L. and Clara E. Bechtel Bowser, she was born November 16, 1925 in Kittanning, PA.Mrs. Schawl was a member of the Sokol Lodge #68, Blairsville, PA where she helped for many years in preparing food for weddings, banquets and special occasions.Surviving are one son, William H. Schawl and his wife, Joyce of Indiana, PA; two daughters, Connie M. Citeroni of Blairsville, PA and Barbara A. Lantzy and her husband, Max of Seward, PA; four grandchildren, Justin Schawl and his wife, Krista; Krisanne Schawl; Branden Citeroni and Luke Lantzy; two step-grandchildren, Michael Lantzy and Mindy Shirley; and two step-great-grandchildren, Avery and Buddy Shirley; a brother, Kenneth Allshouse of Distant, PA; two sisters, Edith Culver and Betty Anthony both of Warren, Ohio and numerous nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Walter H. Schawl on April 23, 2001; five brothers, Lawson Bowser, Owen Bowser, James Bowser, Charles Bowser and Fred Allshouse; and five sisters, Fannie Edwards, Elsie Gillian, Ruby Bixby, Ethel Ramer and Mildred Morris.The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 A.M. in the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Roger D. Petersen officiating.Interment will be in Cochran Cemetery, Templeton, PA
