David A. "Munch" Blassmeyer, 54, of Derry, PA died on Monday, August 16, 2004 in the Latrobe Area Hospital, Latrobe, PA.The son of Henry E. and Anna L. Korich Blassmeyer, he was born August 4, 1950 in Pittsburgh, PA.Mr. Blassmeyer was a member of SS Simon & Jude Roman Catholic church, Blairsville, PA, the American Slovak Society of Snydertown, Derry American Legion Post #324 and the Bradenville AMVETS. He graduated from Blairsville High School in 1969 and has served 35 years with the Pennsylvania Nation Guard, 28th Signal Battalion in Blairsville.He was employed by Clark Metal Products, Blairsville, PA as a grinder for 27 years.Surviving are his special friend of 13 years, Janice Gray and her children, Kasha Leveridge and Thomas Gray; a sister, Patricia Cackowski and her husband, Bill of Bradenville, PA; special nieces, Maria, Colleen and Jenna Cackowski; aunt, Mary Pittman of Blairsville, PA; two cousins, Peggy Barnhouse and her husband, Les of Blairsville, PA and Keith Pittman and his wife, Pam of Homer City, PA; and his faithful companion, Russell who he loved very much. He will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Becky Lynn Miller Blassmeyer on July 27, 1986; and an uncle, George "Lucky" Korich, Jr. on January 22, 1977.The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA where a Wake service will be held on Wednesday at 8:30 P.M. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00 A.M. in the SS Simon & Jude Roman Catholic Church, Blairsville, PA with Fr. Chester J. Raimer as celebrant.Interment will be in SS Simon & Jude Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.
