Edward R. Buhler, 63, of Blairsville, PA died on Thursday, August 12, 2004 in the Latrobe Area Hospital, Latrobe, PA.The son of Edward D. and Bertha R. Treese Buhler, he was born February 23, 1941 in Altoona, PA.Mr. Buhler was a member of the Hebron Lutheran Church, Blairsville, where he formerly taught Sunday school. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and was an avid fisherman and hunter and taught hunter safety courses. He, also, was a certified mechanic and formerly judged VICA competitions.He was an instructor for 37 years at Vale Technology Institute, Blairsville, retiring in 1999.Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Betty L. Sausman Buhler whom he married June 21, 1962; a son, Daniel R. Buhler and his wife, Kelly of Blairsville, PA; a daughter, Susan Maskrey and her husband, Gary of Blairsville, PA; three grandchildren, Joshua Maskrey, Ryan Maskrey and Tessa Buhler; his mother, Bertha R. Treese Buhler of Hollidaysburg, PA; a brother, Jay W. Buhler and his wife, Sandy of Grampian, PA; and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his father.The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00 A.M. in the funeral home with Rev. Karen R. Taylor officiating.Interment will be in the Blairsville Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.
