Freeman Blevins, 89, of Blairsville, PA (Brenizer) died on Sunday, August 8, 2004 in the Latrobe Area Hospital, Latrobe, PA.A son of James and Minnie Austin Blevins, he was born October 7, 1914 in Selma, Alabama.Mr. Blevins was a member of the Second Baptist Church, Blairsville and the American Legion #407, Blairsville.Prior to his retirement in 1976, he was employed by R & P Coal Company for 40 years.He was a veteran of World War II serving in the US Army.Surviving are his wife, Anna Maude Mayshack Blevins; a son, Dennis Blevins and his wife, Romi of Brenizer, PA; three grandchildren; a brother, Willie Blevins of Homer City, PA; nieces, Inell Stewart Hobbs of Pittsburgh, PA and Pinkie Brown of Indiana, PA and several other nieces and nephews; and a godchild, Lavonne Morris of Blairsville, PA.He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Aslee Lumpkin.The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 A.M. in the Second Baptist Church, Blairsville, PA with Rev. Ronnie C. Morris, Sr. officiating.Interment will be in the Blairsville Cemetery.Military services will be accorded by the Blairsville VFW Post #5821 and the American Legion.
