John D. Libengood, 74, of Blairsville, PA died on Sunday, June 27, 2004 in the Latrobe Area Hospital, Latrobe, PA.A son of Homer L. and Sara E. Repine Libengood, he was born May 11, 1930 in Strangford, PA.He lived his entire life in the Blairsville area.He was the owner of Libengood's Tax Preparation and the Army-Navy Surplus, Blairsville, PA.Surviving are his wife, Helen M. Short Libengood; two sons, Homer D. Libengood and his wife, Bambi of Blairsville, PA (Penn View Mountain) and Daniel J. Libengood and his wife, LuAnn of Bolivar, PA and two daughters, Candy Walbeck and her husband, Joe of Robinson, PA and Dianna Mudie and her husband, Andrew of Queensland, Australia; 13 grandchildren and four great grandchildren; two brothers, Gerald Libengood and his wife, Esther and Raymond Libengood all of Blairsville, PA and a sister, Lila Peterson and her husband, James of Pittsburgh, PA.He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Jay Libengood and a sister, Elverda Hoffman.The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. in the funeral home with Rev. Dean E. Byrom officiating.Interment will be in the Blairsville Cemetery.
