Edwin D. George, 81, of Blairsville, PA (Derry Twp.) died on Saturday, June 5, 2004 in the Kittanning Care Center.A son of Albert and Twila Dunlap George, he was born September 15, 1922 in Derry Twp., Westmoreland Co., PA.Mr. George was a member of Acacia Lodge #355 F&AM, Blairsville, PA and Tall Cedars of Lebanon Westmoreland Forrest #77, New Alexandria, PA.Prior to his retirement, he was part owner of Electric Motor Sales and Wesco Cage Eggs, Blairsville, PAHe was a veteran of World War II serving in the US Army.Surviving are a son, Larry George and his wife, Linda of Apollo, PA; two daughters, Susan Laughlin and her husband, Cliff of Loyalhanna, PA and Judy Ahlborn of Blairsville, PA; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; his step-mother, Della George of Hollidaysburg, PA and a half-brother, Melvin George of Hollidaysburg, PA.He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Edna E. Fillmore George in 2002 and a brother, Charles George in 2002.The family will receive friends on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 A.M. in the funeral home with Mr. A. James Lewis officiating.Interment will be in the Blairsville Cemetery.Masonic services will be held in the funeral home on Monday at 7:30 P.M.Military services will be accorded by the Blairsville VFW Post #5821 and the American Legion.
