Andrew T. Ostach, 74, of Black Lick, PA died on Tuesday, May 25, 2004 at UPMC, Pittsburgh, PA.A son of Paul C. and Katherine Niemic Ostach, he was born November 30, 1929 in Palmertown, PA.Mr. Ostach was a member of SS Simon & Jude Roman Catholic Church, Blairsville, PA and the Professional Barber's Association. He had his private pilot's license and was a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association since 1955. He was an avid sportsman who loved fishing, hunting and camping but his great love was flying.He graduated from Blairsville High School in 1948 and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the US Navy.Mr. Ostach was a barber for 43 years, having worked at the Regency Mall Barbers for 20 years, retiring in 1995. He was a devoted father and grandfather.Surviving are nine children, Andrew A. Ostach of Blairsville, PA; Melvin M. Ostach of Silver Spring, MD; William J. Ostach and his wife, Margaret of Blairsville, PA; Paul C. Ostach and his wife, Carol of Silver Spring, MD; Carl A. Ostach and his wife, Robin of Beaver Falls, PA; David M. Ostach of Indianapolis, IN; Claudia J. Welker and her husband, Roger of Northridge, CA; Marian R. Ostach of Silver Spring, MD and Valerie A. Ostach-Fagan and her husband, Christopher of Damascus, MD; 10 grandchildren; a brother, Rudolph Ostach of Blairsville, PA and two sisters, Virginia Ostach of Palmertown, PA and Stella Jubinski of Blairsville, PA.He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary Ann Kinosz Ostach in 1985; two brothers, Joseph and Victor and a sister, Mary Bogdanski.The family will receive friends on Thursday from 7 to 9 P.M. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA where a Wake service will be held on Friday at 8:30 P.M. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:00 A.M. in the SS Simon & Jude Roman Catholic Church, Blairsville, PA with Fr. Chester J. Raimer as celebrant.Military services will be accorded by the Blairsville VFW Post #5821 and the American Legion.Interment will be in SS Simon & Jude Cemetery, Blairsville, PA.
