Kevin L. Garland, Sr., 42, of Blairsville, PA died on Saturday, May 1, 2004 in the Latrobe Area Hospital, Latrobe, PA.A son of Donna Garland Loughner, he was born October 28, 1961 in Greensburg, PA.Mr. Garland was a member of the First Baptist Church, Blairsville, PA. He was active with Blairsville Youth Football where he currently was serving as treasurer.He graduated from Jeannette High School in 1980 and served in the US Navy for seven years from 1980-1987.He was employed by the State Correctional Institute at Pine Grove as a correctional officer.Surviving are his wife, Jamie L. Becker Garland whom he married on June 16, 1981; a son, Kevin L. Garland Jr. and a daughter, Katrina M. Garland, both at home; his mother of Jeannette, PA; maternal grandmother, Betty Garland of Jeannette, PA; two brothers and two sisters, Brian Moore; Ronald Moore and his wife, Jill; Denise Garland and Lori Smith and her fiancée, Garrett Pepe all of Jeannette, PA.He was preceded in death by a brother, Timothy Garland.The family will receive friends on Monday from 7 to 9 P.M. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. in the First Baptist Church, Blairsville, PA with Rev. Paul L. Carter officiating.Interment will be in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont, PAMilitary services will be accorded by the Blairsville VFW Post #5821 and the American Legion.
