Kenneth "Dick" Culler, 57, of Strangford, PA died on Sunday, April 25, 2004 at his home with his family by his side.The son of Kenneth and Adelaide Dute Culler, he was born April 19, 1947 in New Castle, PA.Mr. Culler was a 1965 graduate of New Castle High School and attended Penn State University where he met his wife, Barbara Kahl. They married in 1969 and together have one son whom their lives have revolved around and who fondly referred to his dad as "Bud".For the past 34 years, Mr. Culler was employed by Standard Steel, Latrobe, PA. He was a member of USWA Local 1551. While at Penn State, he participated in Navy ROTC. He served as past president of Burrell Elementary Boosters, coached in the Indiana Boosters Baseball program, assisted the Blairsville Boosters football organization, was an avid Blairsville Colts baseball fan, and loyal follower of Mount Union Purple Raiders football. In the 1980's, he was involved in the raising and racing of thoroughbred horses. He also, enjoyed hunting and riding quads.Remembered for his outspoken, candid demeanor and subtle wit, he brightened the lives of others with customary offerings of candy, golf balls and cookouts.Surviving are his wife of 35 years, Barbara Kahl Culler; his son, Joseph, a student at Mount Union College, Alliance, Ohio; one sister, Susan Soden and her husband, Glenn of Columbus, Ohio; mother-in-law, Louella Kahl of Blairsville, PA; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mary Lou and Stan Horrell of Blairsville, PA and nieces, Brittany and Blair Soden of Columbus, Ohio.He was preceded in death by his father in 1997 and his mother and father-on-law, Joseph Kahl, both in 1999.The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 7 to 9 P.M. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 A.M. in the funeral home with Rev. William N.
