Loy H. Douglas, 80, of Blairsville, PA (Blacklick Twp.) died on Wednesday, April 7, 2004 at his home.A son of Roy A. and Hulda E. Leasure Douglas, he was born August 2, 1923 in Dixonville, PA.Mr. Douglas was a member of the Hopewell United Methodist Church, Blairsville; the Blairsville Grange #2012, Disabled American Veterans, Indiana American Legion Post #141 and was a member of the Graystone shuffleboard championship team for eight years in Naples, FL. He was an avid fisherman and spent the last 14 winters in Naples, FL.He graduated from Indiana High School in 1943 and was a veteran of World War II serving in the US Army Air Corps.He worked for Westinghouse Specialty Metals, Blairsville as a machinist for 33 years, retiring in 1985.Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Eleanor Gamble Douglas whom he married on June 14, 1947; two sons, Howard L. Douglas and his wife, Mary Jane of Temple, Texas and Randal L. Douglas and his wife, Sherry of Blairsville, PA; four grandchildren, Jennifer, Stephanie, Lindsey and Brian Douglas; three brothers, Carl A. Douglas of Shelocta; Raymond M. Douglas of Indiana, PA and Blair D. Douglas of Canonsburg, PA.He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Harry L. Douglas and a sister, Elizabeth McGeary.The family will receive friends on Thursday from 7 to 9 P.M. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Shoemaker Funeral Home, Inc., 49 N. Walnut St., Blairsville, PA. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 A.M. in the funeral home with Rev. Jason L.
